What Selank is
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of tuftsin, an endogenous immunopeptide first described in the 1970s. The synthetic version was developed in Russia in the 1990s, where it was researched as an anxiolytic that would not produce the sedation or dependence associated with benzodiazepine-class compounds. Structurally it is short, stable and water-soluble, which is why it appears in so much of the animal-model literature rather than as an exotic laboratory curiosity.
Two things are worth being clear about up front. First, it is an analogue of tuftsin, not tuftsin itself — the side chains were reworked to improve stability. Second, the research base is overwhelmingly preclinical: rodent models, ex-vivo tissue work and Russian clinical reports that were never replicated in Western randomised trials.
Where Selank sits in the catalogue
Selank belongs to the small group of peptides studied for cognitive and emotional regulation rather than for structural repair or metabolic signalling. The honest comparison within our own cognitive shelf is:
| Compound | Class / origin | Volume of human evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Selank | Tuftsin analogue (immunopeptide family) | Limited — Russian clinical reports, minimal Western replication |
| Semax | ACTH(4-10) analogue (melanocortin family) | Limited — same origin and caveat as Selank |
| Cerebrolysin | Porcine brain-derived peptide mixture | Moderate — several randomised trials, mixed results |
| KPV | Tripeptide fragment of α-MSH | Early — mostly animal and in-vitro inflammation work |
Selank and Semax are frequently researched together: one is usually described as calming and the other as activating, though both act on overlapping systems. Neither has the evidence depth of Cerebrolysin, and none of them are medicines.
Supply, handling and documentation
We supply Selank as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder in sealed vials: 5mg and 11mg presentations. Reconstitution is done with bacteriostatic water, not sterile water, if the material is to be stored for any length of time after opening.
- Lyophilised powder: store sealed, refrigerated, protected from light.
- Reconstituted solution: refrigerate at 2–8°C and keep covered.
- Do not repeatedly warm and cool the vial; condensation degrades short peptides quickly.
Every batch ships with documentation available on request — see our lab and COA policy for what we will and will not claim, and the reconstitution guide for the method in detail.
Ordering, payment and delivery
Pricing is per vial, shown openly at the top of this page. Card checkout runs through Stripe. Bank transfer is offered at a 10% discount and prices are shown under each card price; bank orders are confirmed once funds clear. UK dispatch is same or next working day, with tracked delivery.
Delivery times and payment details are set out in full on the delivery page. If anything is unclear before ordering, contact us — we would rather answer a question than process a return.
Selank: common questions
Is Selank the same as tuftsin?
No. Selank is a synthetic analogue with a reworked sequence designed for greater stability. Tuftsin is the endogenous tetrapeptide it derives from.
Is Selank a medicine?
No. It is supplied as a research chemical. It is not a medicine, it is not for human or veterinary use, and nothing on this page is medical advice.
What is Selank researched for?
Predominantly anxiolytic-type activity in animal models, with interest in effects on GABAergic signalling and BDNF expression. Human data is limited and largely non-Western.
Which sizes do you stock?
5mg and 11mg vials, priced per vial. Both are listed in the price table above.
Does Selank need to be refrigerated?
Yes — sealed lyophilised vials should be refrigerated and kept out of light. Once reconstituted, keep at 2–8°C.
Do you provide a certificate of analysis?
Batch documentation is available on request. See the lab and COA policy for exactly what is provided and what is not.
